How does the sauna boat work?

The sauna boat features an environmentally friendly electric sauna, maintaining an optimal temperature of 80 degrees Celsius. Moored at bay A, Oyster Cove Marina, the boat remains stationary throughout the session. Guests can indulge in hot and cold therapy by alternating between the sauna and the optional enclosed ocean water plunge area or the fresh water outdoor shower.

Does the sauna boat leave the marina?

The sauna boat is conveniently moored at the furthest end of Bay A, at Oyster Cove Marina. The sauna boat stays stationary during your session at this location, allowing guests to easily access the sauna facilities whilst overlooking the picturesque waters.

What amenities are available on the sauna boat?

At Sauna Boat Tasmania, guests can enjoy a Tasmanian Timber sauna room, changing facilities, and a relaxation deck. The boat offers an enclosed optional plunge area where guests can experience the invigorating Tasmanian ocean waters. After your session, cool off with a cold freshwater shower.

Towels are provided for your comfort and Marina bathrooms are also accessible for any additional needs.

How many people can the sauna boat accommodate?

The shared sauna session accommodates up to 4 people, ensuring an intimate experience. Private sessions can host up to 5 individuals.

Do I need to bring anything for my sauna session?

We recommend bringing:

    • a swimsuit (no nudity allowed)

    • an additional towel (for changing)

    • a water bottle to say hydrated

How long is a sauna session?

Each sauna session lasts 60 minutes, allowing ample time for sauna relaxation and hot-cold therapy.

How long should I stay in the sauna?

For experienced sauna users, we recommend no longer than 15 minutes in the sauna at one time. However, listen to your body for the perfect time to cool off in the plunge area or outdoor shower.

The sauna has a convenient wall timer to monitor your sauna time and ensure you get the most benefits from your sauna experience.

What time do I need to arrive and where do I go?

Parking is available at Oyster Cove Marina, Kettering - a short 30-minute drive from Hobart.

The sauna is located at Oyster Cove Marina, 7 Ferry Road, Kettering Tasmania 7155.
As soon as you turn onto Ferry Road turn left, down the dirt road into the Marina and use the designated guest parking. Walk to the Marina Office block/Bathroom area, then head towards Bay Aβ€”the farthest bay on the left side looking out. Proceed to the end of the bay and turn left to find Sauna Boat Tasmania. Please arrive on time for your session; your Sauna Master will be there to greet you.

How do I book a sauna session?

Booking are available via our booking page on our website! Advance booking is recommended, especially during peak periods.

What are the operating hours of Sauna Boat Tasmania?

Our operating hours are by appointment only, via our booking page. Sauna Boat Tasmania operates Saturday and Sunday, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, offering nine one-hour sessions per day.

Morning sessions are available at:
7:00am (sunrise), 8:15am, 9:30am, 10:45am
Afternoon sessions are available at:
12:00pm, 1:15pm, 2:30pm, 3:45pm, 5:00pm (sunset)

Operating hours may vary depending on the season. We offer bookings two months in advance. Please check our website or contact us for current or future availability. Sunrise and sunset sessions are exclusively available for private sauna sessions only.

Do you offer Gift Vouchers?

Give the gift of total relaxation with a private or shared Sauna Boat experience. Gift vouchers are available on our Gift Voucher page, making it easy to gift a unique and memorable experience.

Is there an age requirement to access the Sauna Boat?

Guests are required to be over the age of 18 to make a booking and access the Sauna Boat.

Is the sauna boat accessible to individuals with disabilities?

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the sauna boat, it may not be accessible to individuals with certain disabilities. Please contact us to discuss any accessibility concerns. 

Can I use Sauna Boat if I am pregnant or have an existing medical condition?

Can I rent the sauna boat for private groups?

Yes, the sauna boat is available for private groups, under our booking page. If you would like to discuss a particular Sauna Boat Tasmania experience for your group, please contact us for more information or book directly.


Can I bring my own drinks onboard?

Sauna Boat Tasmania is alcohol-free. Please bring your own water bottle for hydration.


What safety measures are in place on the sauna boat?

The safety of our guests is our top priority. The sauna boat is equipped with life ring, first aid kit, and safety instructions. Our staff are trained in first aid and our company emergency procedures and will provide safety advice for appropriate sauna use.


What is your cancellation policy?

Bookings are non-refundable, but we understand plans can change. You can reschedule your sauna session to another available time slot with at least 7 days notice. You can reschedule your booking via the booking platform online or please contact us via email for support. In some circumstances severe weather may lead to cancellations, we will contact you directly should this arise and a refund or reschedule will be offered.
